How do we ensure high availability and which cloud to choose?

For High Availability (HA) we rely on virtualization-based clusters, stretched storage and database clusters. If you have compliance requirements or need low network latency, choose Private Cloud - on your premises or at Asseco BS. If you want to take advantage of the reliability of global providers, choose Public Cloud. In every scenario you can rely on Asseco BS specialists who maintain such solutions every day.

High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)

Most often we rely on high availability clusters built on virtualization (Microsoft Hyper-V, Oracle Linux KVM, Oracle VM, IBM Power, VMware vSphere, Proxmox, Proxmox HCI), stretched storage clusters (IBM High Availability Policy Based, IBM HyperSwap, Dell EMC Metro Node) and database clusters (e.g. Oracle Clusterware, Microsoft fail-over, Microsoft Always On). An additional Data Center site, in our case our second Data Center, runs in active mode and additionally serves as Disaster Recovery (DR). DR can be supplemented with public cloud resources.

Private Cloud vs. public cloud

Private Cloud is a dedicated cloud environment built in the client's or provider's Data Center, with full control over the hardware, network and virtualization layers. Public cloud (e.g. Microsoft Azure) is, as a rule, shared resources delivered by a global provider on a pay-as-you-go basis. Private Cloud is chosen by organizations with compliance requirements, sector-specific regulators or a need for low network latency.

FAQ

Most frequent questions about IT infrastructure

Servers: Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, HPE Synergy, Lenovo ThinkSystem, IBM Power.

NAS: QNAP, Synology.

Storage arrays: IBM FlashSystem, IBM SAN Volume Control, IBM Tape Storage, Dell PowerStore, Dell PowerVault/ME, HPE Alletra, HPE MSA, Lenovo ThinkSystem.

The choice of specific products depends on performance requirements, environment size and the client's needs.

As an ERP-class software vendor, Asseco BS can deliver IT infrastructure (hardware together with software) on special terms for clients running Asseco applications.

In most cases the purchased products can also be used for other workloads. Savings versus the publicly available offer reach up to 50% of cost.

After analyzing the client's environment, we most often propose deploying a virtualized environment based on a cost-optimal hypervisor.

Where needed, we migrate physical and virtualized environments from Unix to x86_64, change the hypervisor, and set up high availability clusters for Oracle and Microsoft databases while observing rules that limit the number of required licenses.

We also provide support services for specific technologies or entire IT solutions - so the client does not need to build and maintain specialized competencies in-house.

High availability clusters based on hypervisors: Microsoft Hyper-V, Oracle Linux KVM, Oracle VM, IBM Power, VMware vSphere, Proxmox.

Stretched storage cluster: IBM High Availability Policy Based, IBM HyperSwap, Dell EMC Metro Node.

Database clusters: e.g. Oracle Clusterware, Microsoft Always On, Microsoft Fail-over.

Disaster Recovery: an additional Data Center site or the public cloud (e.g. Microsoft Azure) as a backup site.

Private Cloud is a dedicated cloud environment in the client's or provider's Data Center, with full control over the hardware, network and virtualization layers.

Public cloud (e.g. Microsoft Azure) is shared resources delivered by a global provider on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Private Cloud is chosen by organizations with compliance requirements (e.g. NIS2), sector-specific regulators or a need for low network latency.
